
She scrambled under my feet while doing a field check. She was the first Texas horned lizard I have seen on Conservation Reserve Program land here in Texas.
What a special moment we shared. Her looking at me and me looking right back at her. She was extremely curious with her head tilts and eye contact, much like my Loki.
Making this moment more endearing, she was about to have babies. Plumply fat.
In my opinion God could not have made a more perfect creature. 💚

It’s great to see them making a comeback. I remember when I was a kid growing up in New Mexico, they were everywhere.

They are still rare to encounter and see in the field. But there is definitely more of them. 💚
